The focus of Bernie’s career has been spearheading commercialization opportunities for disruptive technologies and solutions. Beginning as an account executive, he gained further leadership opportunities as a player/coach of sales and marketing organizations. His role grew to divisional and P&L leadership responsibilities of both emerging and start-up entities within Fortune 1000 organizations.
In the past two decades, Prusaczyk has been at the hub of either forming or leading several early-stage and startup companies. During this time, he has been a part of two successful exits with additional companies he founded still progressing and in play. He has either been a driver of the team or member of teams that have raised well over $50M in funding from both high net worth investors as well as leading venture firms.
Bernie was most recently Vice President, Member Development and Engagement at the Massachusetts High Technology Council, with a focus on MHTC’s member outreach, growth and retention efforts. In this capacity, he maintained close ties to the startup ecosystem in the Boston area and beyond. He transitioned from VIC Technology Venture Development after nearly eight years as the founder and Managing Director of the Boston Branch (2010 – 2018). At VIC, he formed six entities. Most were based on IP licenses with research institutions, involving technology transfer from leading universities. As CEO of each, Prusaczyk recruited the teams, won the first customers, gained investors and established boards in each entity.
Prior to VIC, Prusaczyk has been at the core of several start-ups during his career from pre-revenue, to rapid revenue growth and successful exits. Experience includes serving on the management team of NuGenesis Technologies, a life sciences data management platform, as vice president of Worldwide Business Development and Channels, helping the company grow from $0 to $25M and exit with the successful sale to Waters Corporation in 2004. He had additional sales leadership roles at Agfa (now Monotype Imaging), EasyAsk (acquired by Progress Software) and Sybase iAnywhere (now SAP).
Bernie is well versed in the technology sector with more than thirty years of leadership experience across various industries; ranging across software, mobility, life sciences data management, search and database technologies, medical devices and printing technologies.
Bernie holds a B.A. in Economics/Accounting from the College of the Holy Cross.
